25-03-2006, 09:24 AM
Sorry I didnt get on here yesterday Emma with an update, but today I am 9 stone 9 lbs!!!:-D :-D :-D

I got the bits and pieces we ordered - glad the spaghetti is good! Will try that very soon!

I tried a couple of the choccy bars and love the coconut "Bounty" type one. Will have to watch my scoffing of these otherwise the good work will go to waste.

The tomato sauce smells really nice, unfortunately it does not look good splattered all over my beige carpet in my hall. It slipped out the opened box (opened it at work) and smashed as I walked in from work last night. Had a really bad day at work and that just finished me off for the night. Was scrubbing the carpet for hours and the whole hall smells of tomatos.

Oh well, I will be ordering soon myself so will get another bottle:roll:

Yesterday I ate: custard, two choccy bars, two vodkas and coke

EmmaG
25-03-2006, 10:11 AM
Oh Donna bummer about that tomato sauce, just typical you would have a beige carpet, did you get it all out???

Excellent news about the 9 stone 9lbs!!!!! way to go!!!! How much have you lost now?? You are catching up to me :)

After the day I had yesterday I just sat staring at the mess. Nearly in tears over it!! But managed to get 95% of it out I would say. After the kitchen has been put in I am going to get my hall and living room carpet professionally cleaned and the sofas, so hopefully the rest will come out then. I am changing the beige carpet in the dining room to wood flooring so not too worried about that one.

I have now lost in total 1 stone and 4 pounds:-D

EmmaG
25-03-2006, 01:06 PM
Nah I wouldn't be surprised if you just don't lose anything for a bit, you might have put on a 1lb, never know you might have lost a bit more!!! ;)

You must have gone down a dress size by now??

Donna
25-03-2006, 03:57 PM
That dress at Christmas was a size 14. (which is the biggest I have EVER been). Was from Wallis so dont know if their sizes come up small (heres hoping) My work suits have always been a 12 and were getting tight. Now the trousers are not sitting on my waist - they drop to my hips so I feel I am losing them!!

Not noticed tops getting too big - just feel I am fitting into my bras better!! I am probably now still a 12 rather than going into a 14 if you understand me?

HOpefully another few weeks and I will find I am starting to think about struggling into size 10 jeans!!! My size 12 jeans I am wearing now are being held up with a belt that is being done up on smaller notches now.

I have a pair of jeans I was wearing a few years back that I grew out of that I am determined to get into - light coloured demin with sparkly bits on them (bit out of fashion now I suppose but I liked them!!).

Will see how it goes!

Donna
25-03-2006, 03:58 PM
Found butternut squash in Asda today (dont normally go there but near Pets at Home and I was going there!) I was gonna buy one but couldnt remember what to do with it - and the shape of it put me off - looked a bit rude!!! LOL!!

EmmaG
25-03-2006, 07:03 PM
lol at the shape of the butternut squash!!!! lol now that you mention it.... ;)

Anyway, just peel it cut it into chunks, drizzle with a bit of oil and pop it into an oven (about 200c) and roast for about 30 mins, or you can boil and mash like potato, or steam, it is very nice :)

yola
25-03-2006, 07:09 PM
Or you can make soup out of it should you have the time and inclination ;)

EmmaG
25-03-2006, 07:33 PM
Yes soup would be a great idea, you can also add it to currys and stews. It is very versitile :)

Sounds good!!!! I am now a size 10 down from a size 12 (although I really think I needed a size 14) Although I have to have a size 8 for skirts from Next and Asda :)

Donna
25-03-2006, 08:20 PM
Its when I got that dress and couldnt fit into the 12 that I thought it was time something was done.

UP until then I could kid myself that it was "a small 12" if too tight, but a 14 on a 5'2 frame just isnt right... so am extremely happy that in a few weeks time I will be getting a couple of new suits for work in a size 10 to work my way into hopefully. I have one summer light grey suit that is a 10 I think that will be great to get into that. Might try it on soon and see how small it is/guage how much longer till I can get into it!!

EmmaG
25-03-2006, 08:35 PM
You might surprise yourself and manage to get into that suit. After I lost the two stone a few years back I was amazed when i went to Tescos and tried on some clothes (didn't buy anything but just wanted to see what I could get into to :) ) and I managed to get into a size 10 :)

Donna
25-03-2006, 08:42 PM

The woodys bars are nice. Slight aftertaste to them - had the hazelnut one yesterday and the orange one today. Orange one nicer I think. The Bounty type bar was DELICIOUS!! But Bounty is one of my favourite choccie bars anyway!! Will definately get some more stuff soon, but know I cant just pig out on all these choccie bars so will take it easy!:-D

EmmaG
25-03-2006, 10:10 PM
That is very good for sausages :) you could always make your own tomato sauce, small tin of tomatoes, a bit of sweetener and cook until reduced right down to a thick paste.

EmmaG

You might find Donna by the end of the week you are down a lot again on your weight, could just be the chocolates and vodka, making a difference over the last few days ;)

Didn't have any lunch today, as I wasn't hungry but I have a nice dinner planned for tonight, sausages, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes :)

Donna
27-03-2006, 05:31 PM

Not a good day yesterday due to the birthday drinks, followed by a late meal at the local indian restaurant. Oh well!

Today I didnt weigh. Ate - sausage and egg, cheesestrings x 2 and just had a few cheese and biscuits (fairly low ones that you recommended). Had litre of squash too.

How are you getting on Emma?

EmmaG
29-03-2006, 08:35 PM
Hi Donna, :)

9 stone 3.5lbs today :)

breakfast - lemon custards with low carb strawberry jam
lunch - tuna mayo with lettuce
dinner - hmmmm this wasn't so good - jacket potato (quiet small) with coleslaw and cheese and a salad

OH decided he wanted to go to Makro (cash and carry type place) and I was very hungry when we got there and gave into a jacket potato. Otherwise I have been eating fairly well, I had loads of water today.

Tomorrow I am not sure how I am going to do as I am meeting a friend in the evening and we are off out for dinner, I will try and eat sensibly.

How was the Indian Donna?? I wouldn't worry about it, it is better that you enoyed yourself on your birthday, you can always get back on track the next day ;)

Donna
29-03-2006, 08:54 PM
You are doing well still Emma!! Dont worry about potato. You can afford to have some stuff like that now I am sure.

Indian was nice. Had chicken tikka and had that with salad and lots of onions. Had a bite of naan bread and some of the crispy things. But no rice. So not too bad I dont suppose.

EmmaG
29-03-2006, 08:56 PM
Doesn't sound too bad at all!!!! :)

Yes I am pleased with the loss so far, hopefully tomorrow for my dinner I can pick and chicken/meat and veg dish :) and I won't be having any alcoholic drinks as I am driving :)

When I dont feel so heavy and full up all the time.:(

EmmaG
30-03-2006, 08:42 PM
lol you might just surprise yourself Donna over the last couple of days I really thought because I felt heavier that the scales had shot up but they haven't so far

Donna
30-03-2006, 08:46 PM
I need to eat different foods I think. It cant be doing me any good being like this all the time. What else on this diet can I eat to keep things moving (if you get my meaning).

EmmaG
30-03-2006, 09:03 PM
ah I understand ;) Well you could try and eat a bit more fibre, celery is very good for this, you might also need to up your water content.

Also other things that might help, I find that a couple of black coffees work (not decaf), yogurt might also help (plain not flavoured type)

It is because you are eating more protein which your body takes far far long to digest than it does carbs in the form of sugar/flour/rice etc

I am more regular now, at the start of this in January I was going for about a week, now it is nearly every day (sorry if this is TMI !!! ;) )

Donna
30-03-2006, 09:15 PM
Thanks Emma.

Its hard to talk about "personal" dieting issues on a public forum!!! Hope everyone dont mind!!!

Drinking about a litre of squash a day now. Plus few cups of tea. Diet is lacking in any veg really as breakfast is egg/cooked breakfast/custard etc, lunch is bit of cheese or tuna/mayo or ham etc, and then dinner tends to be a bit of meat with nothing else. Hardly eating anything compared to how I was before, but nothing is budging (scales included!!)

Sounds as if you need to up the veggies, try and have some veg with your evening meal, good ones are green beans, brocholi, cauliflower, Nearly every evening meal I have now I have at least three portions of veg, (butternut squash, carrots, I also have parsnips which are quite carby)

You could always try cooking yourself some cauliflower cheese and have this at lunchtime reheated.

Or how about snacking on some raw veg during the day??

You could always try and have some fruit say in the middle of the week to keep things a bit more regular, sometimes I find having an apple works quite well, and it doesn't effect my weight loss much.

I would also try and drink another litre of water/squash in the evening as well, it might help a bit ;)

Yes I think upping the water a bit and eating a LOT more veg will make a difference, but you will need to give your body a couple of weeks to adjust to its new routine. Don't forget you have gone from eating a lot of carbs, to low carb, to then eating not many carbs, back to low carb again. The lower carbs you eat the faster you will lose the weight (overall) BUT it takes a while for your body to adjust, but you need to concentrate on eating the right amount of carbs to keep everything moving ;) also you will get a lot of your vitamins from the good carb (veg) which your body needs.

Having the steak tomorrow now!!!

I told him he could take me out to lunch so he agreed and I told him where (it is one of the most expensive restaurants nearby! lol) and we did end up having a nice lunch - I had lamb with veggies and I decided on a lemon cheesecake for afters. I am going to have a jacket sweet potato in a min with coleslaw.

Glad you had a good lunch Emma!

Today I had egg mayo for breakfast with coffee(!), missed lunch as I was at haidressers, and dinner was chicken and salad - covered the chicken with some of the curry paste and did it on the George Foreman grill. mmmm delicious!!!

Maybe its because I have ingredients now, rather than frozen blocks of processed food in the freezer:oops:

couldnt decide whether to to a plain piece of chicken or chicken curry so did a mixture of both:-D

Yes but you are really experimenting with the ingredients now!!! that is what makes a good cook I think, not to be frightening in trying something new ;)
