She is a very pretty cat.

The next drawing I am doing is very similar, a tortie cat as a kitten and fully grown cat.

Your pictures are excellent, well worth a more "proffessional" standing. Most pet owners would be delighted with a picture of their pet drawn with such quality and likeness. Well done.
Dawn.

Thanks Dawn, it is nice comments like that which partly make the drawings worthwhile.

EmmaG

Just started another one :)

This is a similar style to the last one, kitten and then as a fully grown cat, this one will be interesting as he is a tortie and I haven't done a tortie before :-D

Wow, your drawings are amazing Emma. I know I am new to cat pages, but do you think it is too cheeky to ask if you would do a drawing of my cat Sidney? I would be more than happy to pay for the original, plus P & P etc. Sidney is my 15 year old daughters cat and I would love to give the drawing to her as a pressie. I will e-mail you.

EmmaG
09-11-2005, 12:00 AM
Hi Kim,

No of course it isn't too cheeky to ask me to do a drawing, hey if you don't ask you don't get :) I don't want any money to do these drawings though :)

EmmaG

Donna
09-11-2005, 10:00 PM
Oh my god,

your drawings are amazing!! I have never seen any drawings/paintings where the cats look so lifelike.

You know what I am going to ask...

I would love you to draw my two, Misty and Chloe, again I am more than happy to pay for these. I have only been in my house a couple of years and the walls are rather bear - an amazing picture of my kitties would be so special!!

I have read every single entry on this, and agree with all the comments. I have only been on this forum for a short while, but already I have learnt and seen so much!

I have only had cats for a year - everyones experience is invaluable to me as I am a novice.

Let me know if you are willing to add me to the bottom of a very long list!!

EmmaG
09-11-2005, 10:04 PM
Hi Donna,

Of course I will add you to my list, best thing to do is to email me the best photos you have to EJG@supanet.com.

:) Thanks for your kind comments :)

Donna

Fran,

here is a photo of a drawing I did of a horse about a month ago, I did this in about 1.5 hours and I did it just to see if I could get the horse correct. :-D

Moli
09-11-2005, 11:30 PM
That is just fantastic, never seen anything like it....Do you do dogs??

Fran
09-11-2005, 11:30 PM
OMG......I will be emailing you piccies of my horse if that's ok Emma. That is brill!!!! Horses are so very difficult to draw, I would say the hardest animal to draw

EmmaG
09-11-2005, 11:35 PM
Thanks Mags, although the mane on that horse really does need a little bit of work, Moli, I haven't done any dogs as yet, although I do have 4 on my list, I figure they cannot be that different to cats lol, Fran I think horses are one of the more difficult animals to draw as a lot of people do not get their proportions correct and usually make their legs too short!!! lol I love horses and did a couple of drawings of them when I was at school and they came out ok :)

Mags
09-11-2005, 11:39 PM
Emma, with all these drawings to do I hope you'll still be able to find time for Catpages:shock:

Fran
09-11-2005, 11:41 PM
Thanks Mags, although the mane on that horse really does need a little bit of work

I think the mane looks great Emma...my horse doesn't have a mane as he is hogged ;)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/pretty1kitty/Bootsy001.jpg

would you be willing to tackle him - if you know what I mean  :-D If it didn't work out and you weren't happy I would understand if you decided not to draw him. The reason behind this is I have a lovely photo of him that I took to the photoshop for them to blow up to put above our fireplace. They couldn't blow it up as I had reduced the image size too much by mistake  and when they tried to blow the photo up it just distorted. We were gutted as it is the best photo we have of him :( ...

EmmaG
09-11-2005, 11:41 PM
I still manage to...lol it is draw a bit...post a bit....draw a bit....post a bit lol

Moli
09-11-2005, 11:42 PM
Pk what does Hogged mean???

Fran
09-11-2005, 11:44 PM
Pk what does Hogged mean???

It means we shave his mane off Moli.... cob type horses to be dressed correctly have the feathers on their legs shaved off and their manes unless they are drivinghorses then the more mane and feather the better lol

Mags
09-11-2005, 11:46 PM
Pk what does Hogged mean???
That is what I was going to ask as well Moli.....

EmmaG
09-11-2005, 11:49 PM
Fran, I can have a go... email me to photo at EJG@supanet.com and I will see what I can do. My drawings are usually on A3 paper (15"x11" ish) , although I can do acrylics on canvas. I am not sure if you want to put it above your fireplace that A3 would be very big. I have ordered some fancy paper and I think it is a bit bigger and I plan to do a lot of the catpagers drawing on this paper.

Just checked this paper and it is 19" x 27" which could be a good size. :)

Fran
09-11-2005, 11:53 PM
Thanks Emma...that would be brill!!!! I will definitely pay you. My hubby is so made up as he was so disappointed that the photoshop couldn't blow up the photo and he can't believe how excellent your drawings are...Thank you x

EmmaG
10-11-2005, 09:56 AM
Fran if you try and pay me I won't do the drawing :-D I would rather you donate some money/food to a local animal shelter.

Fran
10-11-2005, 01:35 PM
 Ok Emma, you really are stubborn!!! :-D I will give to the local PDSA for my cat drawing and the the local horse and pony sanctuary for the drawing of my horse how does that sound?

EmmaG
10-11-2005, 02:30 PM
That sounds excellent Fran :)

Luke
10-11-2005, 04:32 PM
well my pics have been finalised and sent off to Emma :D

EmmaG
10-11-2005, 10:14 PM
Another update on this one, I need to do a lot more shading of the fur on the left side of the face, just started putting some colour on the right hand side :-D but I am not doing any more on this tonight.

Fran
10-11-2005, 10:17 PM
It's brill Emma!!! So life like. Tortie's must be quite a challenge with all the different mingled colours..

EmmaG
10-11-2005, 10:24 PM
Fran doing this cat has certainly been interesting although the photo has come out a bit orange/pink (the paper is white!) I do need to add some more black and brown to the fur as yet.

Moli
10-11-2005, 10:31 PM
How do you get the eye's so lifelike Emma, your pictures look like photographs.............

EmmaG
10-11-2005, 10:36 PM
Not quite sure about the secret there Moli, I find the eyes quite easy to do, once I start layering the colours (which I do VERY lightly) the eyes can sometimes take me a couple of hours to do but they are one of my favourite bits to draw. I do a lot of double checking back to my reference to make sure I get them correct, as before on my first ones I didn't check enough and they are very difficult to alter once everything else is completed.

Mags
10-11-2005, 10:45 PM
What can I say.......absolutely brilliant Emma!!!!

Luke
10-11-2005, 11:19 PM
brilliant Emma, this picture is looking wonderful, you should have no problem with Clems tortie bits, or Elsa's cream blends and silver tabby ticking :)

The pics are superb Emma. Maybe everyone that has one done could donate a set amount to YOUR rescue choice? you shouldnt be doing all these for nothing. I would love you to draw my Cats and maybe dogs? and would be most happy to donate at least £20-£30 for each painting, hope I havent offended you or anyone else, feel free to beat me up or ignore me if you wish.:-D
Dawn.

EmmaG
22-11-2005, 10:07 AM
Thanks Dawn for your kind comments,

I leave it up to the individuals to make any payments that they want to, to their local charity, I know for some people that money can be tight sometimes, the only charge I have made is to people abroad for the postage and packaging. I like doing these for donations as I can really experiment with ideas and the way I work, I do not have to meet any deadlines and if it doesn't turn out very well (some of them I am not 100% happy with) I don't lose anything. I have found in the past when I started drawing that it left me a bit flat doing drawings from photos on the internet, I get so much more by doing them for owners who can hopefully appreciate them and cherish them.

One of my friends keeps nagging me that I should only give away copies of my work, but that is so much hassle and expense getting good quality copies made and I would spend all of my time NOT drawing that I wouldn't enjoy it, also I couldn't sell the original or copies if I wanted to without the owners permission as I would be breaching copyright.

Also after a while if I didn't give them away I would have 101 drawings of cats!!!! lol

Dawn of course I would be more than happy to do a drawing of your cats or dogs :)

EmmaG
22-11-2005, 06:59 PM
Here is a photo of the drawing that I didn't get to post yesterday, I will try and take a photo tomorrow in better light and you will be able to see the colours better

I still need to work in some depth into the cat
