My new addition - 3 days old

Not been on here for a while but thought I'd stop by and introduce my newest addition. She's an approx 3 day old kitten that I am now hand rearing after she was found in somebody's garden on Thursday.

So far so good, feeding well and she has doubled her weight in the 2 days that I have had her, though she was very dehydrated when she was brought in so the actual weight gain is probably less, more fluid gain!

She's the first that I have hand reared entirely by myself, have done so previously but shared between the girls at work with a night each. No name currently.

Will keep posting regular updates on her progress

Oh my gosh she's so tiny and precious. What a sad start to life, all alone in a garden. The next few weeks will be exhausting with your new baby, keep the updates coming. All the best x

Aww bless her, how sad to have been left all alone in a garden at such a tender age. How fantastic that you have taken her on

Re: My new addition - 3 days old

Just to let you all know I lost this little one last week it's taken me until now to be able to talk about it.

She was doing really well, eating well, weeing and pooing no problem, wriggling around and just generally seemed good. Tuesday afternoon she began to deteriorate, didn't want to feed so I syringed her drop by drop and gave her some glucose, same again later in the evening and she seemed to pick up. Then about an hour after her last feed she was cuddled up in her blanket on my lap and just suddenly began to gasp, and then she was gone

I can at least take comfort that she passed away warm and loved with a full tummy, instead of cold and alone in that garden. Sleep tight little one, you were only with me a short time but you touched my heart and I miss you

I am so sorry to read this Amber. I was thinking about her only yesterday and wondering how she was doing. It was a huge ask and you did all you could for her. RIP sweetheart, you were indeed precious.
