cats and glossingOh has read that gloss paint fumes can be particuarly bad for cats. Due to getting our doors put up in the house today i have alot of glosing and painting to do over the next couple of weeks. My main problem is that Harris and Skye are house cats and are getting very curious if windows are open in the house which means i have to keep an eye when we have the livingroom window open. What do others do with their furry friends when they are painting??

that was my plan but apparently even that can harm them. I think as long as i have the front door open then it should be ok. Juts wondered what other people have done |

Hi Pamela - we used a low odour gloss paint here last time we decorated because as an asthmatic the fumes of ordinary solvent based gloss can make me ill, let alone the cats. I am not convinced that it performs quite as well but was certainly much easier to tolerate. I have redecorated throughout my house and Tiger just tends to steer clear of the areas being decorated. I have just made sure that the house is kept well ventilated. I have used low odour at times but to be honest not convinced how hard wearing the finish is. |
