Another fight (RCR sighs)

Dylan's been in another fight today, he's managed to get a bit of claw stuck in his head. We've tried pulling it out with tweezers but we can't get hold of it properly because Dylan keeps pulling away and crying each time we try.

Any ideas on how we can get the bit of claw out of Dylan's head without it hurting Dylan too much?

Re: Another fight (RCR sighs)

I'm afraid it's going to hurt whatever you do, but it needs to come out or may fester. I've never had to do this, but if I did, I'd wrap him securely in a towel and wedge him between your body and a chair so he can't escape ... what you'd do if you were pilling him. If you think you can extract it with your fingers try that, or a pair of small tweezers. I'd wash my hands before and sterilize the tweezers. And bathe with warm salty water, or if you have some antiseptic liniment from the vet for cats. He's not going to like it, but it needs to go. .
Poor Dylan. Let us know what happens, please! Give him a chin itckle when he's speaking to you again!

I'd agree with dandysmom's advice as above - otherwise it will need to be a vet visit. Can't leave it stuck in there. Poor Dylan - gentle hug from me too.

I agree with what too do with dandy's mum. Let him calm down for a bit though you can not do anything with a stressed out cat. If you cant i would take him to the vets if possible. It realy needs to come out. Give him a tickle from his aunty jane if i might call myself that please

Poor boy - he just loves to get in these scraps and worry you.

Have to say I agree with all above - let us know how he gets on.

All Catsey-ers can consider themselves his aunties. May have to take him though he needs his claws doing. Tried again no luck seems to be stuck. I'll give it another try tomorrow he's hiding now.

Re: Another fight (RCR sighs)

It's out

I managed to get it out within half an hour by taking his collar off, scruffing him and using a pair of scissors to cut some of the fur away then using the tweezers to coax it out

Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One bald spot, one clotted up wound, no infection and a sulky Look which means I had a lot of making up to do.
The bald spot isn't noticeable unless you peer really closely.
