Re: Stary kitten with the flu

Hello
Can your vet give you special orphan kitten formula? One month is very young to be away from Mum - it should still be suckling.
It will need to take some water at least today, or it will become very ill.

Other people will probably know better than me - it is a very long time since I have raised an orphan kitten - but you could try mashing some soft cooked fish with milk mixture and see if it will lap that, or some minced chicken, but it will need to be very fine,

Look through the previous posts and try to find something on feeding very young kittens. I'll have a look too and repost if I find anything

Can your vet not supply you some cat milk? I wouldnt give it cows milk as it may well upsets it's little tummy too much. Your vet may also be able to supply you with some food also.

Re: Stary kitten with the flu

Hello Omar, welcome to Catsey...

Sorry to hear about the poor little kitten and its illness. One month is very young for it to be away from its mother, do you think she could still be around in the area where you found the kitten?

I wouldn't advise skimmed cow's milk for one so young...... maybe you could ask the vet you saw yesterday if they stock any cat formula milk.

I'm afraid we do not have any members from Kuwait here...

I wish you all the best in caring for this little kitten...... please come back and let us know how he progresses.

Re: Stary kitten with the flu

As the others have said, giving the kitten cows milk could be a big mistake. Buy some cat milk, if you have it in your country. The kitten already has cat flu, and cows milk could cause diarrhea, which could prove fatal in this kittens weak state.
Maybe call the vet, and see if the have kitten fomula. As a kitten this young won't be completely ready for food yet.
Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on!

oh my word!!! that poor wee soul. It looks skin and bone. I would take some cat food and mix it with warm water to make a paste, then try giving it small amounts of that via a syringe or on the edge of a teaspoon.

Nor do I ........

Agree with all the above info, no cows milk, kitten must drink, do try to get it to eat ... you could use a meat based baby food if you can't find anything more suitable.

Let us know how it's going .....
