Went to a local show last week and fell in love with these Gloucester Old Spot/Tamworth piglets.

Tried to persuade OH, but he insisted they would not stay that size!!!

I adore piglets, but then I think they're sweet when they grow up too

Are Tamworths the auburn ones? They are beautiful!

Re: Piglets!!!!

Glad you all enjoyed them. Yes the Tamworths are the red ones.

They had a ball in that pen - apparently it started off as some straw on the grass. When I got there it was well rotovated!

They were so sweet. I am a bit of a pig fan myself and it was nice to see this lot having fun.

Re: Piglets!!!!

We have what used to be the largest free range pig farm in Europe just down the road. Sure it's not the largest now. I love to see the pigs rooting about as they wish. They have their houses with plenty of straw and the farmer puts up sun shades for them in the summer. They seem to have introduced saddleback boars this year and the piglets are the cutest! I used to work with a "pig man" who said that pigs were the only animals he knew that could plan to do things in advance and if they liked you, you were fine, but if they didn't, they held a grudge for life.

But with your land CM, sure you could have a couple of pigs - a la Hugh Fernley Whittingstall - just think of the bacon etc. etc. etc. .................

I think that's why I'm not allowed them. OH knows they'd never leave other than due to old age

They are, I hear, very intelligent animals, so I'd not be at al surprised if what you were told is true.
