Irene

Hello

I did have 2 cats one 9 year old female (Saffy) and one 8 year old male (DJ).Sadly DJ died just over a week ago as he had kidney disease and was very poorly. I'm finding it difficult to handle - any advice out there?

Re: Irene

Oh I am sorry for your loss. I lost my first cat that way and it is very sad.

I think, like any bereavement, you need to take it a day at a time. Remember how he was when he was well and happy.

I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted him to continue to suffer so you need to remember that it was best for him.

There are many web sites out there which offer specific support. This is one my friend found particularly supportive.

http://www.lightning-strike.com/

I have found everyone on this site very helpful I'm sure someone will be able to offer other ideas.

CM

Hi Irene, a warm welcome to Catsey..

I'm so sorry for your loss of DJ and the fact that he had kidney disease...

Many of us here have been through what you are going through now and we know how much you must be hurting at this time. DJ is out of pain now and is no longer suffering, you need this period to grieve over him and in time the pain will ease and you will be able to smile when you remember the good times you had with him.

When you feel up to it, we would love to hear more about DJ and Saffy......... we would love to see photos of them also.

We have a section here called Gone but not Forgotten ..........maybe you would like to write a few words about DJ sometime, as a lasting tribute to him? Here's a link to that Section.............

Take care..... (((hugs)))

Sorry to hear of your loss, Irene. As has been said, all of us here have gone thru this and it is difficult. The ache will diminish slowly and you'll remember the happy times; and he is out of pain now. Do please feel free to discuss your feelings if it helps. I know it helped me when I lost Patches a few years ago. (((hugs)))

Hello Irene - welcome to Catsey, but very sorry it's under sad circumstances. As others have said DJ is out of pain and although you are hurting badly now you will be able to remember him with a smile in time. Take care, if you want to post your feelings here - it's fine, we all understand.

Re: Irene

Hi Irene and welcome to Catsey. You are amongst friends here who understand your pain & loss. Grief after losing a pet is like any other grief. So sorry to hear about DJ, it obviously feels very raw at the moment. You did your best I am sure, but sometimes we just cannot do any more. It may help to 'talk' about DJ, if so, we would love to hear more about him and see some pics too. Take care.
