My Three-Eyed Baby

Quotes from my LJ:

Long time no post~!

Yesterday in Canterbury I bought some Triops. :0

"Triops Longicaudatus (aka Triops) are fascinating creatures that first came into existence during the Triassic era whilst T-Rex, Triceratops and other dinosaurs still dominated. Their eggs evolved to survive period of drought, only to hatch once there has been sufficient rainfall. This rare characteristic enables us to safely store them until a time it is convenient to care for them. Their relatively simple care, fascinating properties, energetic behaviour, reasonable size and short life-span, lends them excellent educational value whilst being fun, curious pets too. This pack contains everything you need to hatch them."

So, yeah.

The temperature in the tank is about 23 degrees celsius and it is all set up, and the eggs are in. C: They should hopefully be hatching by tomorrow.

9:00AM
I woke up and the temperature of the tank was like 21-22 degrees, which worried me a tad. So I stuck the light back on and placed it near to the tank.

10:00AM
Now the temperature reads about 26-27 (the water must be 21-30 degrees at all times) degrees so I moved the light away and now it should have a good constant temperature. No triops yet! I added a little more water to make sure that any eggs that get stuck to the sides will be submerged.

My triops, despite me doing everything right, didn't hatch.

So I e-mailled the place I bought them from, and a lovely lady said she'd send me more eggs and nutrients to try again.

They arrived today - four pots of eggs!! ^___^

So I was just cleaning out the old food from the tank and getting rid of the old nutrients, when I saw something move.

How exciting! Can't tell too much from that last photo, though. More pics when they're bigger, please!
