I'm a furious baker.

I made melonpan (melonbread) last night.

(Note: Melonpan has no melon in it. XD)

I'm not too happy with how the bread came out, bit too doughy, but otherwise it's quite yummy.

Melonpan is a Japanese snack that is sold very cheaply in a lot of shops (usually about 100 yen) and my fiance and I always buy it from Japan Centre in London, it's goooorgeous.

It's basically a soft bread dough that is then 'wrapped' in cookie dough and baked. So the bread cancels out the sweetness of the cookie and makes a great combination.

There are always variations of it, I plan to put chocolate chips in it next time.

That's interesting . . . I've never heard of that before. So is it soft inside and crunchy outside? I must look out for that. Not much of a big Japanese community in Reading (we've only just got our first Japanese restaurant ), so might have to look further afield

Generally, yes! Mine came out a bit too dense. XD But generally it's really fluffy inside with hard cookie outside.
