Re: Fran....

The weather has been dry and quite sunny at times today. The aftermath of the floods are profound. Meadowhall, the very big shopping centre is closed and will be for the next few days, retailers will be losing millions A lot of shops and restaurants are closed from the flooding and many schools too. There is one river in the area causing serious concern as they have observed cracks in it's banks, if it floods there will be devastation. They have evacuated the houses in the nearby villages and are trying to support the bank. Also they are pumping water out of the river although at the minute the water is only coming out at the rate it is flowing back in There are still a lot of people stranded in rescue centres and many, many roads still closed not only from being flooded but also as a result of the damage to the roads that the water has caused. The Government has apparantly promised extra funding to our council to help deal with all the aftermath of the floods. More rain is promised this week though Something we really do not need!

Re: Fran....

Just seen on the news that if the dam goes then the whole of Sheffield will be without power, it will take the water only 15 minutes to reach the power station, they'll have just enough time to cut the power to the whole of the city
