Re: Earthquake in Kent...

I saw it on the News Mags. Dreadfull, we think more of earthquaked in other countries not here. Just goes to show how the climate is really changeing.
It seem's to be mainly chimney stacks that have been effected. It did say no one has died. Has to be a blessing.

Re: Earthquake in Kent...

No casualties reported - our buildings must be pretty good!

Ever been in an earthquake?
I remember the one in maybe 1992-95 - bit vague - sorry. Maybe epicentre in the Midlands. Happened early afternoon, and my desk at work certainly moved.
Another time we were on holiday in Greece and the water in the pool all went up to one end! Locals were worried (unsuprisingly given that there have been some nasties over there) but it disn't really bother the holidaymakers.

Edit I think Donna is Medway rather than coast, so hope she won't have been affected.
It certainly brought it home to me when they said on the news 'Tunnel unaffected' - goodness, just think what might have been

I remember the one in the early 90's too DM. It was in the afternoon and I was sat in a chair at home and the chair started shaking ........such a strange sensation.....almost a dizzy feeling. Also an alarm/buzzer went off somewhere in the house and I couldn't figure where on earth it was coming from. Phoned OH at work, he came home and traced it to the central heating system.

We don't have many DM - I think sometimes we just figure on the edge of the Anatolian fault, which is the active fault line through Greece/Turkey/Mid east

What a fascinating link, Mags! Thanks for posting....I've bookmarked it! We very very rarely get them here on the East coast; I've never experienced one, thank God.
