Cheese preserver

Well, I was a bit sceptical of the claims when I got this product but I can't praise it highly enough.
http://www.lakelandlimited.co.uk/pro...spx/!7136_5073
It's just a plastic box, with whatever clever filter/ventilation system in the cover, but it is truly amazing! I've had a block of Cheddar sitting in it for over a week which is still fine - no sweating, no hard edges, no drying out - and a piece of Stilton I put in three days ago is still in perfect nick.

No need for bits of cling-film, no nasty niffs in the fridge.
I thought it was expensive for 'just a plastic box' but now actually think it might pay for itself in time ... no throwing out of dried up ends of cheese and no plastic wrap required.
And that's it for today from your Good Housekeeping kitchen gadget correspondent!

Re: Cheese preserver

I'll have to have a look at that DM, I have their catalogue.

I like Lakeland, I bought their spider catcher a couple of months ago as a pressie for someone who hates spiders ............ since they've had it they haven't seen a spider to try it out!!

I like Lakeland too!
We're obviously equally sad Mags ... once it was shoe shops which fired my imagination, now it's kitchen gadget catalogues!

I love Lakeland, but there isn't a shop near me, boo hoo. I've loved plastic gadgets for years (now now ladies, clean out your dirty minds). I used to be a Tupperware lady.

Re: Cheese preserver

That's quite an intruguing gadget! Too bad I've already given Santa my wish list! I use the plastic wrap, but fortunately, as I eat a lot of cheese, it usually doesn't stay around long enough to start hardening or drying out....but I'd still like one of those......My late Misty who adored cheddar used to "help" me use it up too....Leia doesn't like cheese at all.....

I'm sure you will like it. The bigger one is (surprisingly) large. Takes up half a fridge shelf. However, it holds plenty of cheese!
