Diversity in gardens

Based on a few posts regarding people's likes and dislikes of plants, imagine you have a dream garden. If you could plant anything regardless of soil conditions, size etc - what would you and wouldn't you.

What 5 plants are a MUST for your garden

What 5 plants wouldn't you have at all?

Re: Diversity in gardens

I can easily do the five things I wouldn't have: liriope, alliums, flowering cabbage/kale, purple coneflowers and cockscomb! Have to think a bit to narrow down the "must have"s"...there are so many,,,,,,,

Re: Diversity in gardens

Are the "must haves" limited to plants only, or could it include things like a stone bench or a lily pool? Or could we do separate plants and "things"? This is hard !! You always come up with the most thought-provoking posts....

Re: Diversity in gardens

Well, I've had to shortlist the "must have" ones to........Acer, Geraniums, Agapanthus, Fuchsias, Azaleas......

The "wouldn't have" ones are.......Nasturtiums, Dahlias, Alliums, Ivy, Lupins

Okay DM you are thinking about this to hard woman , have anything you want its a dream garden but limit your must have's to 5 plants (other wise we'd have everything) then add anything else you want lily pool, bench etc etc etc.
