Vet gave him a really good feeling over and scuttled off to weigh him and find a colleague

she came back and said they'd had a good feel of his tummy and there was a 'mass'. She said it most likely was some kind of intestinal blockage. Unlikely that it's faeces as that's maleable, possibly a VERY compacted hairball, possibly a 'telescopic' intestine (spasmed and twisted), possibly another kind of blockage due to having eaten something (he like to chew plastic bags), or then something more serious such as a tumour - operable if it's localized in just one area, more tricky if it's spread
We had to leave him there. This broke my heart as he really, really just wanted cuddles. There was also shades of Ferdy, who as you may remember I lost under a general anaesthetic just under 2 years ago.
They will hydrate him, sedate him and give him an x-ray and then they'll call me if they need to proceed further . . . I'm so worried to bits about my funny little kitty
