Booking hols over the Internet

Anyone ever booked a holiday over the internet? Got any website recommendations , tips ...or sites to steer clear of. My Mum and a friend are thinking about booking a holiday this way, I have never tried it so could do with some tips to pass on to them.
Thankyou

Yes Het - haven't used a travel agent for years.....not that a travel agent does a lot anyway.
What are you looking for?
You can just book package tours via the various operators, or you can do your own thing.
We went to the US and Canada two years ago and I booked everything sitting here, including flights, car hire, hotels, self-catering accom, and a train journey between the US and Canada!
It's almost as much fun planning as it is going!

Shout if I can help any more.

Thanks
They are looking to go to Malta in May, one of my brothers just had a great ski trip to Austria which was done through an internet ski club...so it put the idea into their heads. They aren't looking for anything too exotic ....I think
just the basics
