Getting very excited here! We have puppies on the way :D It's been 18 months since we last had puppies here, I am so looking forward to it, we are expecting black and chocolate puppies this time :cool: Here's a piccie of Maddie, she has a couple of weeks to go yet....

Gosh Fran, no sooner do the kitties go to their new homes than you find your house full of puppies! You think Maddie will last another couple of weeks? I expect they'll be delightful - you will promise to let us see the darlings won't you? Hope all goes well.

:lol: We have been breeding Labradors for quite a few years now, we are relatively new to breeding Siamese/Orientals. Which do I prefer to breed? Puppys every time!! Of course I'll post piccies. Hoping for a nice black bitch out of this mating, so fingers crossed!!

I hope Maddie has a straight forward pregnancy and has lots of lovely podgy pups like before .......including black ones of course!:D

Aww Maddie looks exhausted. Have you mated a black and a chocolate Fran or is there both in the genes of each parent?? Don't know anything about breeding and only a tiny bit about DNA and genetics.
I hope all goes well and I can't wait to see them too

When are they due?
Maddie had a strange season this time and had several matings over several days, so there's quite a large window with relation to when they could come. Judging by the size of her, I would say they will come from the earlier matings, so I am guessing around the 14th of Februaury...

If there is a Basset Hound puppy in the litter, it will most definitely have your name on it Elaine ;) :-D

Yes, I have mated her to a black dog that carries chocolate. If he didn't carry choc then all the puppies would be black as black is the dominant gene. Both parents have to either be or carry choc to produce choccie pups :D

Average litter size for labs is about 8 puppies although Maddie tends to throw bigger litters, her biggest being 11 puppies :shock: This is her last litter so a nice black bitch out of her would be very nice ;)

How exciting! Poor Maddie looks exhausted there. I remember that feeling all too well :roll: I hope she has an easy labour/birth and heaps of healthy pups :D

When I saw this thread in new posts, I wondered if any puppies had arrived. Hope all is progressing smoothly? Lol.
No babies as yet! Obviously not quite cooked enough yet :lol: Hopefully not too long now as Maddie looks like she might pop :shock: and she is very uncomfortable now. Fingers crossed for an easy whelp

How long before she delivered her first the last time?
about 11 hours after first signs that she was in labour..but first litter she only laboured for 6 hours

No puppies as yet, she's been labouring for over 12 hours now, hope it's not too much longer :roll:
Poor baby! Hoping the pups are on their way by now and all goes well :D
Hope you are all okay and a little news of the four footed variety would be nice.
No news yet, will give her two or three more hours and then probably get her checked over at the vets
Hope all goes well Fran, joking apart - as long as she is fine.
Poor Maddie, that's a long labour :? I hope things start moving soon for her...

They are all a good size but actually the second one out is the biggest so far a real chunky, black boy. Once she started with contractions she got going really well :D
