old cat is calling - need advice

My "old" rescue cat has been with me a few days, she's a sleepy old lady & seems in quite good health. (liver enzymes high so on abs & coat a bit dull oterwise ok)

What surprised me today is that one of the cats was calling (very loud I might add) & when I went to see who it was --- it was The old lady! (old tart )
My questions are
a) at what age do they stop calling? Or do they do it forever?
b) if she's still calling will that give us an indication of her age - ie she is probably younger than ? "a certain age"
c) presumably she is not neutered, should she get neutered?

I will speak to the rescue people about her - but just interested in your views.

hope you guys can offer some advice.

I think Sam is the one to answer your questions Smudgley. I have no experience of this as all my cats are neutered with the exception of Maud and she is a young cat....

I like your description of her Smudgley....The old lady!!
Sorry I can't answer any of your questions but hopefully someone will soon....maybe Sam (Shonedek), there isn't much that she doesn't know about cats and she has always proved very helpful to us....

In the pen there's
Cleo (young ferral)
Pudding (2 year old entire female)
2 pudding babies.
2 Cleo babies
& an old aged pensioner - the last one I expected it to be was her - there she was strutting her stuff up & down the fence

Re: old cat is calling - need advice

Im here Smudgley, i always drop in like a bad penny i do Thanks for your kind words to.I answer from experience,im no expert and were always learning something new

They NEVER stop calling untill you have them spayed. We have a foster who came in at 14 and she was calling.Took us all a little by surprise. The older they get the louder they get to,well thats what ive found with my girls. All my non-breeding girls are spayed except Wazzy who cant cope with the operation. My suggestions would be toooo....

Buy some ear pluggs lol or personally if shes never going to be bred from then i would spay her, lessons the chances of mammary cancer or worse. If shes to frail to be spayed then you can have a jab done to stop her calling or theres homeopathic drops to stop calling.
