Northern Lights

It seems that across UK tonight, if the skies are clear, we MAY be able to see the Northern Lights according to the weather forecaster on TV this evening.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...uns-flare.html

It seems this is due to unusual solar activity.

I have my fingers firmly crossed - but will be very surprised if I manage to see it this far south. Good luck if you live in Scotland, you stand a much better chance of seeing this wonderful sight.

Re: Northern Lights

WOW! I would love to see the northern lights. I've seen the Joanna Lumley programme about it and also remember my Dad telling me about them ('aurora borealis' he called it), from when he was a prisoner of war in Siberia during WWII.

I'll keep an eye out of the window, but it's pretty overcast here at the moment.

Re: Northern Lights

As you may remember we went on a flight in February to see the Northern Lights - they are truly spectacular, so I hope someone is lucky.

To give you a taster, here is one of the photos from our flight.

Re: Northern Lights

We're very lucky and have seen them a few times, although not for the last couple of years. I've just put the birds to bed and didn't notice anything, but will pop out later for another look.

Re: Northern Lights

Fantastic pic! They almost never come this far South, and even if they did with the light pollution in the City I couldn't see them

Re: Northern Lights

Oh what a disappointment CM - I am sorry. I was just going to ask whether anyone had seen anything. Didn't hear about it on the media so guessed not!

Hope you and Cali had a nice walk up the hill though!
