My Japanese Maple


The color isn't quite as vivid this year due to the Summer drought, but thought you might like to see it.

Bonus: down at the lower left on the steps is Ms. Onyx! Didn't notice her there till I uploaded the pic to iPhoto....

I think that maple looks terrific! I wish I had a tree like that in my garden. It must be amazing in a non-drought year for you to describe it as less vivid than usual this year. What a lovely sight!

Most of the trees have now lost their leaves here ......it looks so bare..

That is totaly stunning Eileen.

How come your "Autumn /fall" is so much later than ours, tree's here have lost their leaves well pretty much all now.

Different latitudes, I suspect, also we had an unusually warm October! The coloration is about 10 days - two weeks later than normal......

Yes, our trees here on the south coast are almost bare too. Here are 2 pix I took of trees at Kew Gardens on 7th November. I think it was the day before that nasty storm in Scotland that caused the panic about the storm surge along the east coast of England.
