Re: FIV positive kitten

Very sad isn't it.

There's about a 10% chance it can pass from mom to kittens, although it's thought that it isn't passed via the placenta - but through excessive saliva when cleaning / grooming them when tiny.

Poor little poppet.

Poor thing, but its not the end of the world for him. With the help of a good carer he may well have a long and happy life.
I just feel FIV cats get such bad press, poor things xxx

Re: FIV positive kitten

Might be an idea to have him tested when he's 6 mths and 1year as he may still be carring antibodies from his mum which can show up positive on a snap test. Fingers crossed

Re: FIV positive kitten

It's something very close to my heart. I took on an older FIV stray black cat and he was the sweetest cat ever.

I hope the kitten can find someone that's willing to look past the bad PR and give it the loving home it deserves.

Bless you

Some of the most loving natured cats I've met have been FIV's
