What a rip off!!!

My elderly neighbour has a gardener, but he has hurt his hand, so she asked a local school boy to cut here grass each week, just the grass, no weeding or edging....and he is charging her £35!! As she has no one else she is paying it....

What's he using, a pair of nail scissors?????

That's obscene. Tenner at the most I'd say. Unless she has acres of lawn of course . . . still no excuse of rip off a pensioner

Re: What a rip off!!!

That is disgusting Moli!! I can remember when schoolchildren would help the elderly with little jobs for nothing The person concerned nearly always offered something for their help but it was unheard of for a schoolchild to state what they expected!!

Re: What a rip off!!!

That's awful - and really bad conditioning for th youngster concerned - he'll grow up being the kind of cheat who tells a pensioner their roof is dodgy, goes up a ladder and does nothing and then charges £5000. Very poor.

That's appaling!!!

My next door neighbour has the local lanscapers in every few months to have her hedges cut & front and back lawn cut and she pays them £25 per visit.

Pat have a word with help the aged for her they do "small jobs" like cutting grass, changing fuses/taps cutting hedges etc they have a group of volunteers that go round and do it for you etc aI am sure no where near as expensive as the lad is charging.
