That's teriffic!!! Love asparagus but the stuff from the market's never as good as homegrown. I grew it for years until the trees got so big they shaded it too much & it...died

I had asparagus and new potatoes the other night (with sage butter) and I was so disappointed; mostly woody and hard Whereas last year we had the same about 1/2 a dozen times and each time it was heavenly.

Are home-grown any more consistently delicate?

I think you have to pick them young or they do tend to be tough and woody.....

EmmaG, give it a try if you have a nice sunny spot! Takes about 2 years to get really established but worth it...MUCH nicer than the stuff from the market
