According to Pam Johnson Bennet, cat behaviorist, this a way of expressing dominance in a multi cat household. The first one to "claim" the box is usually the dominant cat. Cats can be dominant in one part of the house, and lower on the ladder in another. so it is possible that one cat is dominant at one box, and a differnet cat at another. |
