What a wonderful & generous idea.
I would donate the money to a local charity, that way the money is helping the animals in your area.
Why not call up a few charities & have a chat about the work they do, you may then get an idea of which ones you would like to donate to.

I did a day on the CP stand at a carnival once & the guy on the next stand came over to ask me what we do, are we volunteers, how does the charity work & was i getting paid to be there. I explained that it is run solely by volunteers & that we are not paid at all, but that we were giving up our time to help the cats and that we all work full time in other areas...... he walked off...... he came back with £20. He said he wanted to check out where the money was going, but he liked the way we work & this was to help the cats.
