A bird in the house!

Was half awake this morning when I realized Leia who was next to me in bed was making that funny chittering noise, eh-eh-eh-eh that they make when they see a bird...I looked at her as if she were crazy, then saw a small wren flying around the bedroom trying to get out!! It flew down the hall to the back room, and back...kept circling looking for a way out...so I got up and dressed thinking of what to do...finally went to the back room and while Leia was still in the bedroom waiting for the wren to circle back I opened a window (it was 24F outside at the time!!!) and the bird, after missing the open window, finally found it and shot out! Thank God! I cannot imagine how it got in; it must have come down the chimney and somehow squeezed past the glass doors...wrens are really tiny birds. Anyhow, it certainly was a different wake-up call this morning!! Leia is disappointed...house cats don't get many changes at birds.....

Re: A bird in the house!

Never had anything as cute as a wren in the house. It;s usually starlings that manage to get in.
Wrens are sweet little things; we often have them scuttling around in the evergreen clamatis - I think they are like tiny mice the way they scoot back and forward.
Poor Leia - thought she was going to get a warm breakfast. Console her with the thought that there would have been barely a mouthful!
Glad it ended well and you didn't get frozen

Poor little wren, pleased you got her out safely but cannt help feeling a little sorry for Leia, she must have been so excited, bless her.
Eva has her eye on seagulls, I swear she gets hold of them by the tail feathers when she is out in the back garden. Comes running upstairs with a mouthfull of them, very excited and ever so proud of herself. One day the seagull is going to bite her back.

Good lord, a seagull? Those are big birds; Eva is either very brave or somewhat foolhardy...hope she never manages to catch one...!
