Brownsea Island

We went to Brownsea Island with our Canadian friends about 10 days ago and i forgot I took some pics. As ever they are not great but it gives an idea of what a lovely spot it is. No traffic - wonderful! And I saw a red squirrel! Great - haven't seen one for ages, not since I was in the Lake District last.

Typical picture

Lots of heather - this picture is funny - Dan's backside! Don't know why i took that!

And a peacock - lots of them wandering round, mugging you for sandwiches! This one appears a bit fuzzy - can't think why

The entrance/National Trust base

Did reply to this but hit a button on my mouse and it all disappeared

Brownsea Island is lovely - how nice of you to take your guests there DM.

My one memory of my visit there is sadly shrounded in alcohol when my ex-h's employer (BP) hosted a bash there to celebrate the end of a 'phase' of work at the Wych Farm Oil Development. I do remember an overriding air of tranquility and a long walk from the boats to the 'venue' lit up by noisy generators as the place was otherwise pitch black, and also making a bit of an ass of myself due to wine consumed (well I was only 23 at the time . . . )

Re: Brownsea Island

Lovely pics DM. I would love to visit Brownsea Island. We were very near once but for some reason visitors weren't able to go over that day - can't remember why!
