Clumsy cat!

I was wondering if deafness in cats is likely to make them more clumsy? Frankie is so clumsy, she sends things flying all the time, falls off windowsills etc etc! She is fine healthwise, she has always been that way! I only ask, because a number of friends have told me that deaf cats are always clumsy. I was just wondering if it was true?!

Here is the culprit!

Re: Clumsy cat!

I've never thought of that before Lianne......I suppose it could affect them.......
Someone may be able to come up with an explanation for you........

Re: Clumsy cat!

I don't know either.
I can't really see why it should be the case? Perhaps she is just a naturally relatively clumsy puss?

Re: Clumsy cat!

Hmmm. The only thing I can suggest is that someone the deafness is interfering with her balance and making her loose co-ordination. But that's really the only thing I can think off.

But she is a little darling

Re: Clumsy cat!

It would probably depend on the cause of the deafness. If it is a problem with the internal ear, then that's where the sensors for balance are as well. Or if it is a nerve-damage then the balance paths may be damaged or impaired as well.
