Did you miss me?

Our heat wave broke yesterday as a series of very violent thunderstorms swept thru the area with wind gusts up to 61 mph and drenching rains ..... and power loss! It went off at 3:30; I was annoyed as I was in the middle of posting, but figured it would be back in 2 - 3 hours as usual. Wrong!! Not till this morning about 7 am. Spent an 18th century evening by candlelight (ever scoop the litter tray by candlelight?); and no proper dinner .... tuna sandwich and crisps no veggie and worst of all no hot water for my cup of tea! The entire neighborhood was completely dark; spent it reading by candlelight on the porch. At one point there were over 30,000 people without power in the City, and worse in the suburbs.

I am definitely an internet addict .. kept looking at the dead screen and thinking of all those unanswered posts and unread e-mails.....

Nice to be back!

Re: Did you miss me?

We often get power cuts here but usually only for 1 - 2 hours. I think, like you, I'd be looking for my pc etc.

Glad you're ok and back up and running.

We do rely so on electricity; it's annoying when it's off for a few hours, but all night! Aaargh!! It was as quiet as the countryside last night, only an occasional car passing and the chirp of the crickets.

Re: Did you miss me?

Oh dear, poor you!
We seem to be prone to outages as well. I have carriers and cages spread throughout the house so that wherever the ferrets are I can scoop them up and contain them, I always get worried about them being underfoot with the lights out! I've even bundled up Kuan Yin and the dogs in the car once and drove to K's work b/c they had a backup generator there
I know what you mean about the internet, that's how I feel--something very important will go unanswered when I'm offline!

I feel the same way as you Eileen, if I'm offline for a day I get withdrawal symptoms!!! Some times I just don't get time to post much but I try and read up on previous threads, Catsey is like family, I miss you when you're not there! xxx
