Aloe Vera is poisonous for cats according to this website boys mum.

Sorry, I can't think of anything to recommend, apart from a salt water wash. Is it his anus do you think or his anal glands?

Re: Ronnies got a sore bottom

I would hesitate to do it as aloe vera is listed as poisonous to cats; even if you just rubbed a little of the gel from the leaf on his bottom he could, and probably would, lick it off. Do you have any unsalted butter? A little dab of that might soothe any irritation.

Poor Ronnie, may be he's eaten some thing and it's scoured him thats why his bottom is sore. Just as Angie says, I'd stick with cool water wipes and note his stool, is he a litter tray user ? Could be a foreign body irritant eg, grass, sand etc. How does he seem in himself? Off his food? Lethargic?

I've had a quick Google and it seems you can use petroleum jelly ................ but it won't treat whatever the cause is and may in fact make it worse if he keeps licking at it.

Good point about the licking; disregard the butter suggestion; should have thought of that.

Re: Ronnies got a sore bottom

If it was ordinary table salt, only use a teaspoonful to a pint of previously boiled water - if it's too strong it may sting!

Re: Ronnies got a sore bottom

we manged to get him in the bedroom last night. and ive got some soft make up pads, and charlie held him. he wasnt happy at all. in his kitty mind we are abusers lol managed to dab the sore bits with the salted water. and after a few little kitty treats he was happy again. but had his brekky this morning. spotted me with the small bowl i used and he was off on his toes and gone. so ill have to get him later on.
but from what i saw its not quite so red today. i would of taken a piccy but didnt want to turn u all off breakfast. and there must be some sort of law regarding that im sure lol
