Cats 'used' by Mortgage Lender

A mortgage lender in Russia is giving away cats as an incentive to buy a mortgage with the company.

The cats are 'on loan' from the mortgage company and arrive at the property, being the 1st to step over the threshold cats are considered very lucky for the new owners (must be a cultural thing).

Make up your own mind, but it smacks of little concern for the welfare of the cat in my mind. I'd like to know what happens to the cat afterwards, and where did it come from? What is it's life like when it is not being 'put to good use'?
