Poorly Imogen!

Poor Imogen's head has swollen up again! It seems to be allergy related although the specialists haven't figured out what the allergen is. She's been rubbing her poor eye and made it sore, hence the collar but it seems to make her very sleepy too.

Re: Poorly Imogen!

Oh poor baby Is there any indication what it might be? Cats are very susceptible to allergies so maybe you need to look at chemicals in her immediate vicinity (cleaning stuff etc), fleas, foods etc. It's so much more difficult with cats because they can't say when they feel under the weather. Please give her a gentle little squeeze from me.

Re: Poorly Imogen!

It's all very confusing! It's only started happening in the last few months and has no discernable pattern and nothing has changed in the house-same washing powder, cleaning products etc and I have never used air fresheners or febreze type fabric products as I'm aware that they can cause allergy and irritation in pets. She's de-flead with stronghold monthly. Also the swelling only occurs on the side of her face and above the eye, always on the same side
My poor baby, it goes down very quickly with a low-dose steroid but I don't really want to have to use them long-term.

Re: Poorly Imogen!

This is probably a dumb question, but do cats have sinuses as we do? I had an Aunt with sinus problems and it was on one side, not both; that made me wonder....hers had no discernible pattern also, nor any trigger that we knew of.

Re: Poorly Imogen!

Oh poor thing! I woke up from sleeping on the sofa the other week and my own eye was exactly like that! It went down then flared back the next day and took about 3 or 4 days to get back to normal and I still have no idea what it was!

Gentle hugs to Imogen, one of my fave Catsey cats, she's beautiful. x

Thanks everyone, I think she's feeling better (I gave her a tablet earlier) as she's just launched, collar and all off the sofa to land on poor, unsuspecting Kindly as she walked past
