lump on kittens belly

i have noticed a small lump on one of my kittens' belly. only really when she is sitting down, it's soft and doesn't seem to bother her when i touch it and its not near one of her nipples.

Any ideas?

Re: lump on kittens belly

How old is she? Is she behaving normally, eating, toileting, etc. OK? If it were me I'd give the vet a ring and ask if she should be seen. It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry.........

Not sure if it would need to be removed but it may need to be repaired. It would depend on the extent of the rupture.

Re: lump on kittens belly

Sounds very much like an umbilical hernia to me, if it is as Yola says it depends on the severity as to what they will do. Often they will leave them and do nothing, sometimes they will repair at the time of neutering or another op

Sounds like a hernia to me too.
She may be able to manage perfectly well or it may need vet attention.
Best to get it checked, as you say
Good luck

Re: lump on kittens belly

i am taking her in tomorrow for them to check it, its quite small so hopefully wont need an op, she has already been spayed so dont really want her to go through another op. i will let you know how she gets on.

Re: lump on kittens belly

If it's really small they will most probably suggest you leave it and just observe it.
