Cold in the US!

Watching something or other on TV last night my ears pricked up because they mentioned a place I know and have stayed at 3 times now. (in summer!) Saranac Lake, northern NY State - very near Lake Placid where a winter olympics was held fairly recently. Anyway - they said it's going to be extraordinarily cold there today. Guess the forecast? Minus 35F That equates to minus 37C
Blooming heck!
It seems cold all over the North-east. Burlington (a lovely town on Lake Champlain) Vermont, minus 1F (minus 18C) and Bangor Maine very similar. Hope Eileen isn't freezing in Washington. It looked dry-cold there earlier in the week when they were announcing the Libby trial result.

Link to Saranac if you are interested. http://www.saranaclake.com/index.shtml
I see the weather link isn't working - wonder if it's frozen solid

Re: Cold in the US!

That brings back memories of when I first moved to Canada. I went out with damp hair one night and it froze! then found out there had been a warning on TV saying that your skin could freeze. Scary stuff.
The weather is changeing though. Dont you think?

Re: Cold in the US!

Most of upstate New York has been in a serious deep freeze! The jet stream has dipped unusually South, and the whole Atlantic Coast has been abnormally cold...Washington hasn't been as cold, but we went 7 days not getting above freezing, plus the ice storm and two snowstorms! So far, March has been 13 degrees cooler than normal...you wouldn't want to see my heating bill! But next week is supposed to be above normal, finally, and my yellow crocus and snowdrops are blooming, despite the cold! Think Spring!!!
