Ahh so you did, must excuse me, brain on the blink!

Ok, I'll tell ya Fran.

Switch dial to "P"
Turn the camera on
Press menu
Along the top go across one to the second red camera icon number 2
Scroll down to the bottom to "parameters"
Press centre button "set"
You should now have parameters highlighted
Press set again, you should see an up and down arrow at the end of the line.
Scroll up or down till you see B/W, then press "set"
Then press "menu" and you are done!

You cannot shoot black and white in the auto mode (green square) only manual modes.
