Tunisia holiday

Well uploaded them and here are a few of my holiday snaps hope it gives you a feel for the place. Actually in Tunis on Friday when the UN talks were going on.....a bit overwhelming. No pictures though, cameras not welcome we got the feeling.

The hotel grounds/pool this was the view from my room

The beach

The hotel walking back from the beach

View from my balcony in the evening.

A typical Tunisian house

A perfume shop in the Medina (market) A fascinating place but not for the faint hearted in the art of haggling.

Same view from the balcony different time of day

Man on the beach offering camel rides the camel is called Jacquline

A mosaic in the national museum - this was brilliant it actually felt looking and touching these like I was part of history; as they are still installing them following the rebellion last year simply superb......like walking through history, you could feel yourself tingling. As you can see this is still to be finished. You can actually TOUCH these. WOW

A close up of a section of the above they are actually working on the mosaics as you go round....don't know if this is an Ibizan hound or Pharaoh hound????

A mosaic still being completed....

The ruins of Carthage where according to legend/history Hannibal came from

Re: Tunisia holiday

Lovely photos Kazz, your hotel and setting looks beautiful.

Did you manage to have a ride on a camel while you were there?

Was that the Mosaic Room in the Museum? I remember visiting that about 7 or 8 years ago. It was very impressive with mosaics totally covering the walls, ceiling and floors ....... so much work must have gone in to it.

What were the temperatures like at this time of the year?

Mags it was the Bardo museum and is under improvement. The mosaics do cover the floors and the ceiling are stunning. Shoud be officaily open Mid 2012 (I would think looking at it mid 2014) But fantastic I can well believe they are the finest in the World.
Temp not bad but rain and wind midweek improved temp Thur/Fri/Sat about 19. Got a bit of colour myself.

Yes rode on the camel above....not an experience I will revist but memorable.

Gorgeous pics Karen, looks like a lovely place to visit. And you're braver than me 'cause I don't think I could do the camel ride

So glad you enjoyed yourself Kazz. Your hotel and beach look so peaceful. The mosaics are stunning, how wonderful that you could actually touch them. I think a person would have to be very patient to undertake that work.

Just love the "blueness"!
