It's habitat destruction, Moli; we're paving over everything, ripping up forested land to build more condos, so the wildlife has been displaced and forced into the suburbs to encounter people. Deer are eating up peoples gardens and causing terrible traffic accidents as they dart across the roads in rutting season...numerous accidents"! And the young bears leave their mums in the Autumn to look for their own territories...frequent stories on the TV of people who have bears on their decks or overturning their bins in search of food...they are more of a nuisance problem than anything else; the really bad ones that threaten people are tranquilized and released way out in the mountains.
This is in the further out suburbs, not the ring of close in ones outside the City.

Thats so sad DM, why can't they at least leave them some of there habitat ..I suppose they are looked on as pests now....
