Eeek! Cat-size African rats in Florida!

These are huge rats, up to 6 pounds! Heard this on the news last night; I would hate to see one of these in my yard!!!

Yuk!!! I bet you would rather have your grey squirrels than one of those Eileen!!

They're huge aren't they .......

Are you on a lookout for a "Destroy the Rats" tee now?

I don't think anyone likes wild rats! Evil ugly thing that spread disease, yuk is right! At least squirrels may destroy the garden, but we don't catch things from them, reluctant as I am to say anything good about them...

That's a worrying article. It seems to suggest that the situation is getting rather out of control with nobody co-ordinating a response.

Re: Eeek! Cat-size African rats in Florida!

All it takes is a few irrresponsible people to release animals or plants! Florida's climate is so hospitable to things: they have giant toads, all kinds of plants that are killing off the native vegetation... no rats here yet, but they have found Chinese oysters in the Chesapeake Bay, threatening the very lucrative oyster crop, and Asian walking catfish as well! And of course the mussels that have infested all the Great Lakes...alien invaders!!

I think I would die of fright if I came across a 9 pund rat.
