is it fair???

is it fair to let an already scatty cat access to outside????

cass is nearly 3 and always been a bit timid, only coming to me if she thinks she might get food.

she has been out when younger at my dads, where it was more open and not near a busy road,

my dad thinks i should let her go out,coz as she is scatty,no one outside id get near her to take her,or touch her.

i have the window open today as its not too cold, she's sitting outside on the windowsill, ive been calling her in every few mins just to check she's ok,she comes in everytime which is good.

im just not sure the older cat goes out but not often and not for long

What's it like where you are, niki? Traffic, roaming dogs, other cats?

Re: is it fair???

Cass is a beautiful cat, I agree (some pics, please, been a while!), but it doesn't sound to me as if she'd let a total stranger approach and pick her up.

Re: is it fair???

Just read through your posts and can see you asked a similar question when she was much younger and had a lot of helpful replies.
My response is that its not just a case of whether someone would be able to take her-there are so many dangers for a cat from traffic, stupid people etc etc
My 3 cats are all indoor cats and very happy. One of them did used to go out for about 10 mins in the morning BEFORE he was fed,but was run over -very bad injuries,10 days at a vet hospital ,plus large bill .He now is quite happy to stay in.

Is it worth risking this-or perhaps him going out and never coming back?Id think carefully before you decide,
from Maureen
