No Babies this time

I have just had a terrible week last week. Phoebe had a discharge but 18 hours later there was no progress so I took her to the vets just to be checked over. They said everything felt ok and gave her a jab of oxytocin to try and get things moving. 2 hours later she passed a placenta but no kitten so we rushed back to the vets. The vet examined her again and said she couldn't feel the kitten so would x-ray her. It turned out there was one kitten but the fear was that the placenta could be from that kitten so the performed a section. There was two other placentas with no kittens attached and one live baby. Unfortunately its front legs were badly deformed and we had no choice but to put him down. Phoebe has recovered now but for a few days she was busy looking for the kitten. Not a good start to the year but hopefully the next litter will be more successful.

Oh Kay, I am so sorry to hear this - what an awful week for you

It is very sad about the kitten but I'm pleased that Phoebe is alright ....... poor babe, it must be difficult for her to understand what has happened.

Gentle hugs to Phoebe and hugs to you too..... x

This is the side of breeding we don't really think about. What a shame.
