Vets again

Over the weekend Mistys wound area where the Spot on flea treatment caused a reaction deteriorated. First the area went brown, then scabbed, then the scab area broke and last nigh the scab was gone and the area was red raw and bleeding.

Today the vet gave her an antibiotic injection and some ointment to rub into the area twice a day. She (vet) said it will heal but will take weeks

Anyone any idea how to stop Misty licking the ointment off ? I tried distracting her with her laser toy (big favourite) and treats however she was not deterred and kept licking at it

Re: Vets again

Hi Velvet - sorry to hear that Misty's wound site has deteriorated and I'm very sorry to say I can't really advise a way of stopping her worrying the wound. I presume that because where it is she wouldn't be able to wear any sort of collar.

Just a thought .... butter on her paws? But it won't work for long.
