Jakes weight

Hi All,
Could someone tell me if cats lose some of there body weight in the summer months? I'm not sure if its me but I seem to think Jake's lost a little weight. We did put him on the scales the other day and he was just under 13lb.
Thanks Mandy.

Re: Jakes weight

Cats may lose some weight if the weather is hot and they don't eat as much as they normally would.

Sorry, mandyb - can you remind me about Jake - is he a bengal or BSH ie. a large cat! Does his possible weight loss worry you and do you think he is losing condition in other ways? If so, I would take him to your vet to make sure all is well. Chances are if you think he has lost weight, then he has! Sorry not to be more helpful!

Re: Jakes weight

We all do mandyb As I said, if you are worried, take Jake to the vet. When it comes down to our furry friends, I am sure we do generally know how they're doing! Perhaps keep an eye on his weight, especially if you trust your scales.

Re: Jakes weight

Can you remember what his weight was before? Is he still eating/drinking ok?
If you are at all worried, no harm in having him checked over by the vet.
My O/H is very good with the cats but doesnt see the things that I see and I am usually right when I think something is not quite right.

Re: Jakes weight

What is his normal weight? I agree, they do seem to eat a bit less and exercise less too in really hot weather. I'd keep an eye on him and as others have said, see the vet if your instinct tells you something is questionable. No scale here, but my big girl seems to be her normal 14 pounds.
