Spraying

Dylan's taken to spraying round the front garden, wiggling his tail around as he's doing it. I know he's marking his territory, but why does he need to wiggle his tail while spraying?

Anyone else noticed this with their male cats?

Re: Spraying

Have no idea why, but all of my boys have done it; also the rare female who sprays.

Yes, Fifi is a wiggler but without spraying. Is Dylan actually spraying or just wiggling?

Dylan's both wiggling and spraying. He's treading with his back legs as well.

Re: Spraying

Has Dylan been neuterd, because Charkie was neuterd and he still used to wiggle his bum and spray outside, I always thought cats that were done didn`t spray so I was always a little bit confused when he did this.

Re: Spraying

All of my neutered boys did it outside, but not in the house. Think it's a territorial marking thing.

Re: Spraying

Merlin used to wiggle his tail and tread with his back legs whilst spraying outdoors in his prime. I have no idea why and presume it's just associated with territorial behaviour. Does anyone know if other cats do the same?

Do your other cats go out to "read their peemails"?
