Dry pics for a very wet day

Here are some pics of my Sahara trip (1998 .
It was one of these sponsored/charity events, for MacMillan Cancer Relief. It was so wonderful, if anyone is considering doing similar please pm me and we'll chat. I've got a written diary** of the trip - might post it/might not, will see once I've got the pics uploaded.

Enjoy!

**( Edit)Diary is 4x too big to post
If you would like me to post it in pieces let me know!)

Only 10% of the desert is sand. Mostly it's this awful stuff - hamada - mixture of sand and stone, with the stones just the wrong size for walking with comfort and just the right size for turning your ankle.

Wonderful pictures! It looks quite a small area and then you see the specks that are people and realise the scale! I know what I am trying to say!
It would be lovely to hear more DM!!!

I know what you mean Lianne - it's the question of scale isn't it, and how tiny and insignificant we really are? I write about that in the diary. I will post it - it'll have to be in several threads, so just ignore it if you find it boring.

No here's me - on the right, in case you are confused with the beauty in the middle!
(What an awful pic but we didn't bother much about fashion/appearances!)

Re: Dry pics for a very wet day

The sahara is beautiful. I only visited the fringes but this looks like the full-on sand experience

Camels *shudders* They REALLY freaked me out; weird creatures

That's brilliant of you to do a trip such as this for charity; full marks for your bravery AND your kindness.

I'm off to read any diary snippets I can find right now - - - >>>
