Henri

If you know anyone with a kitten preach the importance of vaccinations

Henri was a kitten got on a whim & discarded just as quickly when the novelty wore off. He is about 16 weeks old but is the size of a 9/10 week kitten. He weighs 1.2 kilos . So pathetically underweight & undersized.

I asked the vet for some highly palatable food as he wasnt eating & we got some AD. Its food they give to animals following surgery, who need to recuperate, helps to gain weight & add body. High protein & highly digestible.

Apart from the flu symptoms & sore eye (which is part of cat flu) he has also had watery diarrhea.

The AD is a godsend. Its the consistency of a watery paste, first thing he showed interest in foodwise. He gets fed little. & often. His poo is now mushy as opposed to watery so we are getting there. He has his antiviral injections every other day. His eye ointment twice a day.

All this could have been avoided if he had been vaccinated in the first place .

He has got a special friend here who washes his face & cuddles next to him. Gentle Jac x

Re: Henri

I'm rooting for le petit Henri, Velvet and sending comforting, healing vibes. He does sound as if he's improving and eating something at least is a very good sign.

I am sure I read somewhere that even if you do have your kitten vaccinated, they could still get 'flu, though maybe not so badly.

Re: Henri

My understanding is that when vaccinated some have cat flu. It then lies dormant until some stressful situation occurs & can then surface. This happened to Ben. When he was homed, he was stressed. As bad as Ben was, he was never like this kitten. Henri's diarrhea has got bad again

Re: Henri

Just home from the Vets.
Another antiviral jab & antibiotic jab & paste for his diarrhea. He can come off the AD now, Gareth (vet) says its very rich & might be making his loose bowels worse, he can get back onto ordinary food.

Re: Henri

Joy and Beau go for their 6 monthly check up and vaccinations tonight! They hate being in the car and "cry" a fair bit. It's the motion, as they are all right when we are stopped in traffic etc! Bit stressfull for them and us , but we know how important this is

Joy and Beau are such beauties and vaccs are so important that the short journey to the vets has to be done.
Henri, so glad to hear you are getting stronger, from little acorns and all that
Alls well with my two, Pandora is due for her booster in November.

Re: Henri

All for the lack of thought or care.
Same with Bella (albeit she is a dog) I had her injections redone from the start at my vet. That way I am certain she is covered.
