Winston, my dear, gentle old boy

Winston made his way to the bridge yesterday but is now free of all those old aches and pains he had began to develope and for that i am thankfull. I always wanted the best for you my friend and I will love you always. You were very special indeed. I was very sad to let you go and I know we will meet again one day and that will be a great day of celebration my handsome fellow.
Sleep well and play hard Winston xxx

Re: Winston, my dear, gentle old boy

I Only Wanted You

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Once again, you can run through the grass and feel the wind through your fur like you did when you were younger.

Elaine - that is a beautiful tribute you wrote there to a beautiful cat - may you cherish the wonderful memories of Winston for ever and may the pain of separation pass soon.

A wonderful poem for a wonderful cat. I am sure he will be thankful to you for letting him go with dignity, and while he still had quality of life.
