cat in labour - but seems to have stopped

Hi all,

My cat went into labour about 2.5 hours ago, her waters broke and she had some contractions. There was some bloody discharge too. However, since that there seems to have been nothing further. She has used the litter tray and seems to be content just curling up, sleeping.

Is this normal!?!?!?!

thanks,
Charlie

How strong were the contractions?
How many contractions?
Was there a kitten to be seen / felt at the vulva?
Has she had a litter before?
Is she panting?
Does she have any vaginal discharge?
How much fluid has she lost?

Re: cat in labour - but seems to have stopped

I'm not really sure - I haven't had a pregnant cat before!
The contractions seemed quite strong and she was panting for a bit.
There was a lot of fluid when her waters broke and some brown-ish/pink discharge.
I couldn't see a kitten and haven't felt her, as I didn't want to interrupt.
She seems okay in herself, there is no straining now and she doesn't appear to be in any pain - it's like she's just taking a break - but it's been for over an hour now.

Ohhh - forgot to say that I think this is her first litter (she is a rescue cat) but she does have small nipples that don't look like she's nursed before.

Please help!!

Phone your vet, and tell them what you've said here they'll advise.
