Re: FIV & FeLV a question.

FIV is Feline immunodeficiency virus (similar to HIV in humans) & cats have a suppressed immunity, otherwise usually healthy, although they can become ill through it eventually. Passed through biting (deep penetrated wounds) is more common in entire male cats.

FeLV is Feline leukemia virus, much more serious, spreads easily to other cats. Cats can become ill with it & can die from the symptoms of it. It has a long incubation period so cats can be carrying it a while before showing clinical signs.

Yes. FeLV is quite easily spread & can be spread through saliva /sneezing etc.

I've only ever had 1 FeLV cat.
I've had 3 FIV cats.
