I've been looking at stuff about fireflies! Evidently nearly 100% of the firefly's light is given off as light, whereas a normal light bulb only gives off 10% as light, the rest being wasted as heat. Wonder how energy saving bulbs compare?

Fascinating, isn't it. Angie. It's called bioluminescence, or cold light. Did you know that there are female fireflies that mimic the flashing pattern of other species so they can catch and eat the prospective suitor?

And fireflies co-ordinate because if they all fired at once it would just be a light and not flashes
