New foster.....

Went this morning to pick up kitten, it was in a shed in a cage. as soon as it saw me hissed, spat and growled, the woman would not put it in the cat box, so put the box in the cage on an angle and it climbed in, shut the top quick....Got home, put it in a kitten cage, it went daft...So got a fleece blanket and scooped it up, as soon as I picked it up it stopped spitting, took the blanket off and cuddled it for a while, discovering it was a girl, when I put her down again she spat at me...Since then when I go near her she hisses and spits, but I just pick her up and she stops, until I put her down again she would not eat, and was hiding under the coats hanging in the hall, so I put her food under there and she ate the lot!she has been through with me seen the dogs and cats, met Chancer who she loved...put her back in her bed, she spat at me again..So I pick her up spitting and she stops till I put her down again!!She is white and tabby and very pretty.. even got a small purr put of her.... weirdest kitten I have ever met....

Re: New foster.....

That seems rather odd behaviour Moli. I won't even hazard a guess at what's going on there, unless she has been mistreated whilst in her bed/cage .................

Re: New foster.....

I have left her out of the cage now, she just needs to learn to trust people, all her carry on is just noise, she is not at all aggressive....Think she knows I am not scared of her...

She must be so confused poor babe. I'm sure she'll flourish in your capable hands.

We have named her Meisha, will get some pictures in a few days, she has spent the evening sitting on the chair watching TV, spitting at anyone who looks at her!!

Sounds like wee kitty is a touch feral.
I am sure as you gain her trust she will chill out...
How old is she? And whats her story? Was she found in shed? ( Sorry, I am soooo nosey, I love to hear the back story...)

There were 3 of them, the girl who owned them homed 2, but could not find a home for her, so she went to another CP foster on Saturday, who put her in a cage in a shed, The cordinator phoned me yesterday to ask about Bramble, and asked if I would take this wee one to socialise her...as the foster who had her was bascially scared of her, as she was aggressive...She is not a feral, just been treated badly, but although she spits and hisses, as soon as you pick her up, there is no aggression, she just sits and lets you pet her...There are 3 of us who are handling her now, I have put my cage away and given her freedom in my small hall, which she seems quite happy with, she has eaten another pouch of meat tonight...
